Es soll an einem Nachmittag, am 24. Januar 1932, gemalt worden sein. Es gehrt zu Picassos Periode der verzerrten Darstellungen, die mit ihren vereinfachten Umrissen und kontrastreichen Farben an den frhen Fauvismus erinnern. Der erotische Gehalt des Gemldes wurde wiederholt hervorgehoben.
